This is spice mix that varies from region to region and is added to savoury dishes to produce a unique flavour. It works very well with cabrito (goat kid).

4 tablespoons cumin seeds
4 tablespoons coriander seeds
1 tablespoon black peppercorns
1 teaspoon cinnamon bark
1 teaspoon cardamom pods
½ teaspoon cloves (whole)
1 tablespoon turmeric powder

Lightly toast all of the ingredients except the turmeric. Allow to cool down then blend everything in a spice grinder or pestle and mortar.
