Walking Holidays in southern Spain’s sunny Andalucía.
Situated in the Sierra Sur de Jaén between Granada, Jaén and Córdoba makes Casa Adora a wonderful base to explore the countryside.
The Vía Verde Del Aceite which runs close by is a green route based on the old railway line which used to transport olive oil from Jaén to Puente Genil then onto Malaga and Algeciras.
Today the Vía Verde covers 55 km between Jaén and the Guadajoz river, where it joins the Vía Verde of the Subbética, being a disused railway line it is level and suitable for walkers, cyclists and wheelchair users.
For independent walkers transport can be provided to a starting point and pick up later at a pre-arranged destination. You’ll be sent off with a fabulous packed lunch, of course.
Close by is the fabulous Laguna del Chinche Natural Reserve where there is the 65ha saltwater lagoon, Laguna Honda. The Honda and Chiche lakes are connected by the Via Verde but it is also a good circular walk.
Jaén makes up Spain’s largest protected area, which includes several natural parks, Despeñaperros Natural Park, Sierra de Andújar, Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park and Sierra Mágina plus protected natural areas Alto Guadalquivir Natural Area, Cascada de la Cimbarra Natural Area and Laguna Grande Natural Area.
Unless you plan early or late walks then July and August are probably too hot for day time walking but in spring wildlife, flora and fauna are in abundance making Casa Adora a great location for walkers, bird watchers, photographers, artists, cyclists and anglers.
You can enjoy fishing, swimming, boating at the lakes Las Casillas or Vadomojón.
