Issy & Poppy Investigate — Meet the Team

A warm Andalucía courtyard, a clattering teacup, two shadowy Spanish greyhounds who think in two languages, and a very noisy menagerie: welcome to the gang. Issy & Poppy Investigate is where village ritual meets forensic curiosity and biscuit diplomacy — turning political fuss into something sharp, silly and sometimes musical.

What to Expect

Short dispatches, cartoon frames, recipe-adjacent detours and musical interludes courtesy of Goldie’s bubbles. Expect political truths with bite, biscuits and a generous pinch of mischief. Weekly dispatches, surprise mini-investigations and cameo appearances from our ghost pets await.

The Human Narrator

I’m the self-styled satirical scribbler who translates mundanity into dispatches that sting and soothe. I collect tiny details, assemble baffling metaphors and hide biscuits in strategic places. Expect forensic observation, theatrical asides and the occasional domestic revolution disguised as a recipe.

Issy & Poppy

Issy — the levitating Spanish greyhound who thinks in Spanish and English; dramatic entrances are her speciality, and she offers opinions in both languages with equal conviction.

Poppy — the monocled Spanish greyhound, bilingual and impeccably formal; Poppy favours procedure, exact biscuits and a single, devastating eyebrow raise that collapses the flimsiest alibi.

The Extended Team

Joey the budgie — South London transplant and gossip feed with wings; whistles spoilers and occasional operatic ornamentation.

Chelsea the tabby — Spanish by birth; clever, compact and nap-oriented; her English is limited, which makes her verdicts brief, theatrical and unexpectedly sharp.

Toffee — short-legged brown dog, Spanish with a heavy accent; stubborn, devoted and the undisputed champion of biscuit bribery.

Glen — the Scottish sheepdog with dramatic commentary, occasional bagpipe-style howls and a fondness for peat-smoking metaphors.

Russ — the Lancastrian sheepdog with a dry wit and impeccable timing; sibling to Glen in chaos, opposite in cadence.

Jasper — the bonkers rabbit from South London who invents improbable theories and sometimes proves them by accident.

Master Whisker-Wan — the Lancastrian Jedi hamster; small, wise, speaks in cryptic proverbs and polishes tiny sabres between clues.

Gary the Albino gerbil — Lancastrian, hyperactive and excellent at tight-space surveillance; prefers small tunnels and louder opinions.

Pecky the pigeon — South London street poet and courier, practical, slightly cynical and frequently dramatic about crumbs.

Goldie the goldfish — does not speak but sings through bubbles; keeps the archive of submerged truths and hums melancholic refrains.

Stanley the tortoise — slow evidence-review specialist with impeccable timing, a disarming stare and an uncanny knack for arriving exactly when needed.

Kizzy - the northern pure-white cat with flawless rat-catching abilities, prefers to spend her days sleeping in the sunlit alcove.

Spiny Norman - Hedgehog with attitude but prone to muddling his words. Importanter!

Stanley Whisker-Wan - Twin brother to Jedi Master Whisker-Wan. Another hamster. Rounder. Scruffier. Not Jedi.

Setting & Tone

Stories unfold in a sunlit Andalucían courtyard of cobbles and terracotta pots patched with gossip that sticks to the walls. The tone sits between cosy village ritual and a satirical forensic report: we listen for the small human things, then nudge the large political puzzles until they reveal their underwear.

Call to Action

Pull up a chair and bring a biscuit. Join us for free weekly dispatches, and follow the gang on Bluesky for daily riffs, cartoons and stray operatic notes.
