Vanlife | Cabra (Córdoba)

Cabra has two areas de autocaravans for vanlifers so well done to the town hall for providing them both.

I frequently stay here, specifically at the area between the auditorium and hospital (both handy in their own way) as it is located right next to the Via Verde which is very convenient if you own dogs. It is a fenced tarmac area with 24 generous(ish) parking spaces with fresh, grey and black water facilities. It is illuminated at night and feels very secure. I believe there is even two free electric hook up points but I have never needed it. You can use the showers at the nearby municipal indoor swimming pool for 3€ per visit. All the facilities at this site are free although I noticed an installation at the entry point of an electronic barrier since my last visit. It is not functioning at the moment but I suspect a payment system is coming in the near future.

There are two picnic areas and a short walk takes you to a park and restaurant.

The local police visit once per day but they simply drive in and out within no time, I don't think they are enforcing the maximum 72 hours stay.

Around 'tea-time' a scruffy man calls by asking for food after explaining that he lives on the street. I gave him a packet of biscuits but I am not sure that's what he wanted. Anyhow, he is not aggressive and is actually quite polite.

4g mobile signal is very good.

To reach the town centre is a 15 minute walk.

It was quite busy and apart from nationals, visitors included, German, French, Dutch, Belgian and a single Swede. One French motorhome's number plate displayed '87' which is the department in France (Haute-Vienne) where I used to live. It took 10 minutes of my schoolboy French to learn that their van was indeed registered in Haute Vienne but they didn't live there.

In the campo a pyromaniac decided to burn plastic on his bonfire and when the wind turned to our direction we decided to move on.
