Issy & Poppy: Courtyard Biscuit Standoff Adventure
October 25, 2025

Issy & Poppy with another playful adventure at Casa Adora in this Kids Edition Dispatch, where the two black greyhound sisters face off in a courtyard biscuit standoff. The late October sun warms the terracotta tiles, olive trees rustle in the breeze, and the sisters’ rivalry promises more drama than the quiet campo beyond.

October Afternoon in Andalucía

It’s late October in Andalucía. The sun still clings to its summer warmth, casting long shadows across the terracotta courtyard. In the distance, the campo hums with quiet activity — neighbours prepping nets and crates for the olive harvest 🌿.

But here at Casa Adora, Issy and Poppy are locked in a domestic dispute worthy of a soap opera.

Issy lies with her white-tipped tail curled like punctuation, eyes narrowed. Poppy adjusts her monocle with theatrical poise, pretending not to notice the biscuit packet between them.

The Courtyard Biscuit Standoff Begins🐾

Issy (tail twitching like a lie detector): You know what really gets my goat? That time you had the squits for over a week. Dad put you on that bland diet — boiled chicken and plain white rice. And I had to eat it too! My tummy was pristine. I was ready for jam roly-poly, not medical mush.

Poppy (defensive): It wasn’t my fault! I was poorly. And anyway, Tremedad the vet is lovely. She calls me guapa and gives me liver treats. You wouldn’t understand.

Issy (snorting): Oh, I understand. When you got that eye infection — not conjunctivitis, thank heavens, otherwise we'd all be squinting — Dad had to take you to town three times. I had to stay in the campervan like some emotional support cushion while you got pampered.

Poppy (softly): It wasn’t pampering. It was antibiotic eyedrops. Tremedad said I was very brave.

Issy (wrinkling her nose): Brave? You got cuddles and biscuits. I got the smell of antiseptic and flashbacks to my neck op. That place reeks of trauma and rubber gloves.

Poppy (giggling): You did look rather dashing in that red neckerchief though. Like a canine revolutionary.

Issy (grumbling): I looked like I’d lost a bet with a flamenco dancer.

Past Misdemeanours and Biscuit Tensions

A breeze rustles the olive trees beyond the courtyard wall. Issy’s eyes narrow again.

Issy: And what about that time you stole Dad’s tapa off the table when he went for a wee? You tried to blame the little Scottie under another table!

Poppy (blinking innocently): I don’t remember.

Issy: It was at Bar Miraflores in Torredonjimeno. And when you stole Dad’s pizza from the worktop!

Poppy (shrugging): I was new to Casa Adora. Didn’t know the rules.

Issy (voice rising): And when we fostered Toffee while waiting for transport to Colin and Tracy in Wolverhampton.

Poppy (guarded): What about it?

Issy (accusingly): For six weeks, you ignored him.

Poppy (sniffing): I tolerated him.

Peace Talks Over Biscuits

Me (stepping in, biscuit packet rustling like a peace treaty): Alright, ladies. Let’s not turn this courtyard into a tribunal. The olives are nearly ripe, the sun is shining, and you’ve got biscuits. Can we enjoy the moment without dragging every misdemeanour into the light?

Issy and Poppy glance at the biscuits. A silent truce is negotiated. Somewhere in the campo, a tractor starts up. The olive harvest waits — but for now, the drama is shelved.

Closing Notes: Kids Edition Fun at Casa Adora

The late October sun bathes the courtyard in golden light. Issy & Poppy reminds us that even in the calm of Andalucía, domestic drama and biscuit disputes can make a day extraordinary. Peace is restored — for now — and the olive trees sway gently, as if applauding the greyhound sisters’ reconciliation.

This Series

Issy & Poppy is a fun, light-hearted kids’ adventure series starring my two cosmic greyhound detectives and their curious friends—including the wise and occasionally crumb-covered Jedi hamster, Master Whisker-Wan.

Inspired by my real pets from years past, who now live on here as gentle ghost companions, these stories blend imagination, humour, and the charm of rural Andalucía. In Courtyard Biscuit Standoff Adventure, Issy, Poppy, and the gang navigate tricky negotiations, mischievous ghost pets, and, of course, biscuit diplomacy.

All characters and events are fictional—though the real Issy and Poppy might tell it differently.

This The Courtyard Biscuit Standoff story is part of the Issy & Poppy: Kids Edition collection — bilingual adventures with Issy and Poppy in Andalucía. You can explore the whole collection in the Kids Edition Hub.
