Issy & Poppy Investigate: Honest Bob Jenrick
October 7, 2025

What to Expect:
A surreal, satirical deep dive into Robert Honest Bob Jenrick, long-serving Conservative MP for Newark. Expect zany Q&A format, levitating indignation, monocle-wielding scrutiny, biscuits as metaphors for corruption, and ghostly asides exposing scandals, conflicts of interest, and outrageous political statements. Perfect for readers who enjoy biting political satire mixed with surreal humour.

Here we go..

🐾 Me: Who exactly is Honest Bob Jenrick, and why is his honesty always in quotes?

🐶 Issy: Levitates dramatically. A man whose honesty has an asterisk, a footnote, and a faint smell of corporate biscuits.

🐕 Poppy: Adjusts monocle. Long-serving MP, political shapeshifter, Cambridge history grad. Part-time magician, full-time transparency-vanisher.

👻 Jasper: Boing! Does he eat biscuits too fast, or only paperwork?

👻 Master Whisker-Wan: A shapeshifter of politics is always both here and not here like a biscuit you never eat.

🐾 Me: The East London development — why did Jenrick fast-track it?

🐶 Issy: Levitates over the blueprint, see the invisible trail of biscuits from donor to ministerial office. And yes, the donor was Richard Desmond, Daily Express ex-owner, porn magnate, Brexiter, now enjoying life in France.

🐕 Poppy: A man who made millions selling adult magazines and tabloids, sipping rosé in France while Honest Bob bends planning rules. Biscuits crumble in disbelief.

👻 Jasper: Do we count porn royalties in the Biscuit Bribery Index? Asking for a ghostly friend.

👻 Master Whisker-Wan: Wealth flows from tawdry to politically convenient, leaving crumbs of morality.

🐾 Me: Did he recuse himself from conflicts of interest?

🐶 Issy: Recuse? He barely recuses his teacup. FOIs confirm zero recusal. Eyebrow levitation mandatory.

🐕 Poppy: Conflict of interest? More like a picnic with marmalade sandwiches made from public trust.

🐾 Me: What about the 2016 election overspending scandal?

🐶 Issy: Channel 4 alleged overspending. Somewhere between 37 biscuits and a million metaphysical biscuits claimed. Levitation mandatory.

🐕 Poppy: Cost-of-biscuits scandal: doughy treats of democracy or just dough? We may never know.

👻 Jasper: Can we eat the evidence? Asking for a friend. Again.

🐾 Me: His comments on Islam and integration — extreme, or absurdly extreme?

🐶 Issy: I levitated into a mosque demanding evidence. He lobbed rhetorical grenades; shrapnel still lodged in Birmingham.

🐕 Poppy: Master Whisker-Wan, legal opinion?

👻 Master Whisker-Wan: Cultural sensitivity ignored is like a biscuit without butter, theoretically edible, spiritually offensive.

🐾 Me: Driving ban plus government car usage — ethical, or surreal?

🐶 Issy: While banned, 51 taxpayer rides in 13 days. Levitation height: furious. Ethical rating: soggy biscuit.

🐕 Poppy: Pecky the pigeon pecked receipts, discovered trails of marmalade and impropriety. Road to justice equals sticky.

🐾 Me: Special forces claims about killing vs capturing terrorists — thoughts?

🐶 Issy: Floated majestically over moral compass: empty, foggy, slightly cheesy biscuits present.

🐕 Poppy: Gasps. Monocle pops off. Treaty texts consulted: do not kill for sport.

👻 Master Whisker-Wan: The path to clarity is in miniature scrolls or hamster wheels.

🐾 Me: Grooming gangs & race framing — political weaponisation or genuine concern?

🐶 Issy: He wields for the children like a biscuit sword, never revealing which biscuits are poisoned.

🐕 Poppy: Fig leaf for public protection. Maximum shouting, minimum transparency. Probably baked 12,000 distraction biscuits.

🐾 Me: Honest Bob promised transparency — did he deliver?

🐶 Issy: Levitate over the rug. Transparency hidden under layers of powdered sugar and parliamentary floorboards.

🐕 Poppy: Monocle fogged. Verdict: missing. Check the chaise longue, next to ghostly custard creams.

👻 Jasper: I saw it! Or maybe it was a carrot. Hard to tell.

👻 Master Whisker-Wan: Promised transparency is like wind in a hamster cage, always present, never grasped.

🐾 Me: Finally — if Honest Bob were a biscuit, what would the recipe be?

🐶 Issy: Pinch of donor flour, dollop of self-interest, baked under six-month ban. Served lukewarm with levitated outrage.

🐕 Poppy: Sprinkle of xenophobic crumbs, glaze with ECHR-avoidance syrup, crumble moral fibres generously.

👻 Jasper: Extra carrots. Lots of carrots.

👻 Master Whisker-Wan: The best biscuit is one you never eat, unless investigating a shapeshifter in parliament.

🐾 Me: Honest Bob promised transparency — what part of the promise did he hide under the rug?
🐶 Issy: Levitate over the blueprint of his conscience. Clearly, the rug is thicker than Parliament’s rulebook. I sniff faint biscuit crumbs of disclosure… mostly crumbs.

🐕 Poppy: Monocle firmly in place. Transparency? More like a cloak of invisible ink. I count 12 unreported favours, and that’s just before breakfast.

👻 Jasper: Zany rabbit logic engaged! Maybe he hid it under a rug, or a rug under a rug, or a rug inside a biscuit — chaos dictates all!

👻 Master Whisker-Wan: A Jedi’s perspective: Promises unseen are the heaviest weights; the rug is but a shadow. Look past the weave to discern the truth.

🐾 Me: What about this business with Jake Berry and the Towns Fund? Grants flying about like confetti, each of them approving cash for the other’s patch?

🐶 Issy: I levitate above the ledger — and what do I see? Newark with its £25 million golden biscuit, while far poorer towns chew stale crusts. Convenient, isn’t it, that Bob’s chum Jake Berry stamped the Newark grant with his paw?

🐕 Poppy: Monocle polished. And in return, Honest Bob signed off a nice fat slice for Berry’s own backyard in Darwen. Conspiracy or coincidence? I call it scratching backs until the fur falls off.

👻 Jasper: Aha! Mutual biscuit laundering! One for you, one for me, and the crumbs go to the towns that actually needed it. Whoopsie-daisy, democracy is now a bake-off!

👻 Master Whisker-Wan: When ministers trade blessings, justice frays. The rug is not merely covering secrets — it is woven from them.

Disclaimer:
This is not satire. Honest Bob Jenrick, Richard Desmond, and all political events referenced are very real. Any levitating dogs, monocle inspections, ghostly rabbits, or biscuit-based investigations are purely illustrative and for your amusement. No biscuits were harmed in the making of this investigation, though a few may have been metaphorically bribed. Reader discretion advised: some crumbs of truth may be more absurd than fiction.

Addendum:

The Handsworth Contradiction

🐾 Me: Honest Bob, he claimed he walked through Birmingham’s Handsworth and didn’t see another white face. Yet the video he filmed there only featured white residents. How do we square this circle?

🐶 Issy: Levitate indignantly. The circle is made of biscuits. His memory: crumbly, selective, and dipped in hypocrisy.

🐕 Poppy: Monocle polished. He lives at Eye Manor in Herefordshire, population 166, where the census shows 165 are white. And he lectures Britain on “mixing and integration”? That’s like lecturing on cuisine when you’ve only ever eaten plain digestives.

👻 Jasper: Boing! Maybe Honest Bob only sees what fits his narrative — like ghost rabbits who appear when biscuits are near. Discustard!

👻 Master Whisker-Wan: One cannot preach integration from a monoculture cloister. The biscuit tin that holds only one flavour should not judge the mixed packet.

Addendum 2

Robert Jenrick has now jumped ship and joined Reform UK — hardly a shock twist in the political soap opera. His explanation? “I don’t trust the Conservatives on immigration.”

A bold claim, considering Robert Jenrick was the actual Immigration Minister in that very Conservative government.

Nigel Farage, meanwhile, has not always been Honest Bob’s biggest fan. He has previously described Jenrick as a “fraud” and questioned whether he was even “genuine” in his political positioning — remarks reported widely in the press. Farage also criticised Jenrick’s record on immigration while he was the one running the department.

And now they’re on the same team.
Politics really is the finest comedy going.

If you want, I can also write an Issy‑and‑Poppy‑voiced version — more mischievous, more characterful, more “two dogs watching humans do ridiculous things.”

  1. I know it only happened yesterday but you forgot his 'white faces' shite about Handsworth. It is important to include it.
    Keep up the good work.

    1. It’s hard to keep up with these chancers — Poppy had her monocle on it, but the dispatch went out just as his Handsworth ‘white faces’ shite was breaking. Issy has since levitated indignantly, biscuits have been flung, and an ADDENDUM is now in place.

      Cheers

  2. HONEST BOB.
Snake in the grass is an affront to snakes. I’ll go with slippery OPERATOR, and that’s being tame, don’t want to embarrass the pets. Tina. X

  3. Honest Bob: wealthy, privileged, with several homes: Listed grade I Eye Manor, two London pads (£2.5M one), and a £2K/month Newark rental via MPs’ second-home allowance.
    Discustard as Jasper would say.

    1. Our money, his flat: £2K/month so Honest Bob can occasionally show up in Newark and call it work. Cnut.
