Our favourite greyhound detectives are off on a tasty new adventure — sniffing out how children (and dogs!) around the world say “yum yum!” 🌍 From miam miam in France to mums in Sweden, every stop is full of flavour, friendship, and a little surprise from their ghostly pal 👻 Jasper the bonkers rabbit!

It all began at lunchtime.
Dad had just sat down with a plate of something that made the whole kitchen smell amazing. Poppy’s nose twitched first — she gave a little sigh and whispered, “Yum yum!” 🐾
Issy tilted her head, curious. “Yum yum? I thought in Spain they say nom nom when food smells good!”
Poppy blinked. “Nom nom? That sounds like chewing!”
Dad chuckled. “Well, girls,” he said, “you’re both right. People say different things in different places — it’s like food language!”
Issy’s ears perked up immediately. “Then we should find out what other dogs say around the world when something smells yummy!”
Poppy wagged her tail. “Oh yes! 🐾 Issy & Poppy Investigate — Yum Yum Around the World!”
And off they trotted (in imagination, of course), ready to sniff out delicious words from every corner of the globe. 🌍
🇫🇷 Stop 1: France – “Miam Miam!”
In Paris, Issy and Poppy peeked into a bakery full of buttery croissants and warm baguettes. 🥐
“Mmm,” said Poppy, “it smells like heaven!”
A little French bulldog wearing a red scarf smiled. “Miam miam!” he said proudly.
Issy grinned. “Miam miam! That’s so cute — it even sounds a bit like yum yum!”
🇮🇹 Stop 2: Italy – “Gnam Gnam!”
Next, they followed the scent of tomato and basil to an Italian trattoria. 🍝
An old greyhound (who looked suspiciously like their Italian cousin) was snoozing under a table.
“Ciao, amici,” he murmured. “Here we say gnam gnam! when the pasta smells good.”
Poppy wagged. “Gnam gnam! That’s fun to say — like a happy growl!”
🇯🇵 Stop 3: Japan – “Paku Paku!”
Their next stop was Japan, where a kind Shiba Inu shared his rice crackers. 🍘
“When we enjoy food,” he said, “we say paku paku!”
Issy giggled. “Paku paku! That sounds like a cartoon eating noise!”
🇬🇷 Stop 4: Greece – “Yam Yam!”
After Japan, Issy and Poppy wandered along a sunny path lined with olive trees and whitewashed houses. 🌿
A cheerful stray dog lay in the shade, licking his nose after finishing a plate of grilled fish. 🐟
“Yam yam!” he said happily.
Issy’s tail wagged. “That sounds almost the same as yum yum!”
Poppy grinned. “Maybe Greek dogs invented it first!”
They both laughed — and trotted off toward the snowy lands of Scandinavia. ❄️
🇸🇪 Stop 5: Scandinavia – “Mums!” and “Nam Nam!”
A chilly breeze whisked them north to snowy Scandinavia. 🌨️
There, they followed the smell of cinnamon buns drifting from a cosy café. 🍪
A friendly husky wagged his tail. “Here in Sweden, we say mums! when food tastes good.”
A reindeer nearby nodded. “And in Norway and Denmark, we say nam nam!”
Issy giggled. “That sounds just like nom nom!”
Poppy gave a happy wag. “So whether it’s mums, nam nam, or yum yum — everyone’s tummy talks the same language!” 🐾
🇪🇸 Stop 6: Spain – “Ñam Ñam!”
Finally, back home in Spain, Dad was making dinner again. 🍲
Poppy sniffed the air and announced, “Ñam ñam!” proudly.
Issy nodded. “That’s what dogs here would say — we’ve gone full circle!”
Back Home – and a Spectral Snap! 👻
Dad smiled. “So, my clever detectives, what have we learned?”
Poppy thought for a moment. “That everyone, everywhere, has their own way of saying ‘this smells delicious!’”
Issy added, “And that all of them mean the same thing — food makes us happy!”
Just as Dad was about to reply, there came a sparkly little ‘snap!’ from the corner of the kitchen — followed by a puff of glittery air. ✨
Issy’s ears shot up. “Did you hear that?”
Out of nowhere floated 👻 Jasper the bonkers rabbit, his whiskers glowing faintly and his tail flickering like a candle flame. He was chewing a ghostly carrot that shimmered in mid-air. 🥕
“Snap!” went the carrot again. “Oops — that one vanished!” he said with a grin. “Carrots don’t last long in the afterlife!”
Poppy wagged her tail. “Hi Jasper! We’re just finishing our investigation — we’ve been finding out how everyone says yum yum around the world.”
“Ahh,” said Jasper thoughtfully, taking another spectral snap. “Well, in the Land of Ghosts, we just say ‘Boo-licious!’”
Dad laughed. “Sounds delicious to me, Jasper.”
Issy rolled her eyes affectionately. “Trust you to invent your own language.”
The three friends — one human, two hounds 🐾, and one bonkers ghost rabbit 👻 — chuckled together as the smell of dinner filled the air once more.
