Unfiltered Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

I recently stayed at Noalejo, where we spent a quiet night at a campsite shared with a French couple, and at this park-up I tasted unfiltered organic extra virgin olive oil, grown in the fields next to where we were parked up.

We purchased a bottle of unfiltered and organic extra virgin olive oil from the owner; he even showed me the field where the olives had grown.

Spanish olive oil is renowned for its exceptional quality and rich flavour, making it a staple in kitchens worldwide. Spain is the largest producer of olive oil globally, with Andalucía at its heart.

The most popular varieties include
Picual, Arbequina, and Hojiblanca. Picual is predominantly the variety grown in my province (Jaén).

Each variety has a unique flavour profile, ranging from fruity and mild to robust and peppery.

Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) is packed with antioxidants and healthy fats, which can help reduce inflammation, lower blood pressure, and improve heart health. It's a key component of the Mediterranean diet, known for its numerous health benefits.

This extra virgin olive oil makes a wonderful dip — simply pour into a ramekin, add a few drops of balsamic vinegar, and dip a piece of crusty bread in.
