Hake is big in Spain, very big. And I mean popularity not size. I understand most of the hake caught off British shores goes here, why I don’t know as it is a beautiful fish to eat. Iberico ham is very big too so here is a great combination.

Roasted Hake with Iberico Ham
4 hake steaks
8 slices ham
Olive oil
Pre heat your oven to 180°C | 350°F | Gas 4
Rinse the hake under cold water and pat dry using kitchen paper
Season with salt and pepper
Using two slices of Iberian ham per steak carefully wrap the ham around the fish
Place the fish on an oiled baking tray and cook for 20 minutes
Try it with green beans.
Where’s the picture of the finished dish? Not all hake goes to Spain as its available in my local chippy
Hello Ian, I did say ‘most’ and good for your local chippy. The UK exports most of the seafood it catches according to Seavision Organisation data and Spain consumes around half all hake eaten in Europe. Sorry about the finished dish – camera malfunction.
