Issy & Poppy Investigate: The Hypocrisy Vortex

Welcome to the first dispatch from Issy & Poppy Investigate - a new series from the cosmic greyhound detectives. When political absurdity collides with surreal logic, these two spectral galgos sniff out the truth with monocles, metaphors, and moonlight.

This week, they turn their gaze to Nigel Farage and the curious case of the Clacton house.

Me: Girls, Farage says his French partner - and former waitress - Laure Ferrari bought the Clacton house because she comes from a wealthy French family.

Issy (levitating slightly): Ah yes, the ancient aristocracy of suburban Strasbourg. Renowned for their vast empire of IKEA furniture, stale Gauloises, day-old croissants, and Louboutins discreetly acquired from the indoor market - their soles glowing red with embarrassment.

Poppy (wearing a monocle made of moonlight): I once dreamt I was their family’s credit rating. I hovered politely above average, then vanished during a Lidl checkout when someone tried to buy three types of mustard. Not English, of course.

Me: But Farage insists she paid for the £885,000 house herself. Then it turns out her parents live in a regular flat. No golden fountains. No Versailles. Just Strasbourg.

Issy: So the wealth was… metaphorical?

Poppy: Or quantum. It exists only when observed by Daily Mail readers and collapses under scrutiny.

Me: Meanwhile, he dodged £44,000 in stamp duty and still barked for Angela Rayner’s resignation over hers.

Issy: If Farage were a dog, he’d be the one who eats your dinner, then lectures you on table manners while sitting in your chair.

Poppy: Or the one who claims he invented barking, but only does it when the cameras are on and the biscuits are taxpayer-funded.

Me: So what do we do?

Issy & Poppy (now glowing and surrounded by floating tax forms): We summon the spirit of fiscal truth. He rides a flaming corgi and speaks in riddles about receipts and offshore biscuit tins.

Me: Right. I’ll put the kettle on. You two keep decoding the hypocrisy vortex. If Farage turns into a cloud again, let me know.

Follow Issy & Poppy Investigate for more dispatches from the surreal edge of political satire - where monocles glow, truths levitate, and nothing is quite what it seems.

For the hard of thinking: This is political satire, not investigative journalism.
